Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
